Directing The Whale: a tragedy at sea
Adapted from Herman Melville's Moby-Dick
If man will strike, strike through the mask!
In the fall of 2012 I began working on a stage play cut from the pages of my favorite novel, the beautifully lyrical and madly experimental American classic Moby-Dick. I presented a reading of the script in May 2013 at ART/South Oxford Space and am to announce that there will be a full production of The Whale in the beautiful Great Room in June 2014. This is a Moby-Dick of rowdy sea shanties, Shakespearean soliloquies, fierce dialogue, dancing, shouting, and reckless abandon. It's also a play about loyalty and love, awe and terror, faith and hatred, brutality and tenderness. And sperm. Check out the project's official website!

Played Orsino in What You Will
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Stephen Bennett
Theater 2 @ Teatro Circulo, 64 E 4th Street
December 4 - December 8
Thanks to all the lovely folks who sang, drank, and made merry with the cast of What You Will, Stephen Bennett's vital remixing of Twelfth Night with new and traditional songs and a lot more beer! Shakespeare's comedy of desire, excess, and self indulgence was performed by an outstanding cast brimming with delight and humor, and I am proud to have worked with such talented people when I played the lovesick Duke Orsino in this production on the famous Fourth Street Arts Block.
